KRAV MAGA IN EUROPE SINCE 1987
In 1987, Richard Douieb was the pioneer of Krav Maga in Europe. He opened the first European Krav Maga school in France at the request of Imi Lichtenfeld.
In 1997, after rapid success, Richard Douieb decided to create the FEKM (European Krav Maga Federation) to ensure the discipline’s structured expansion and preserve the principles of Krav Maga. Krav Maga was quickly adopted by prestigious intervention groups such as the GIGN (National Gendarmerie Intervention Group) and, more recently, RAID, the elite tactical unit of the French police.
The federation has established Krav Maga’s position in the French sports sector. Every year, many people try the discipline and choose the FEKM for the pledge of quality it represents.
Today chaired by Steve Schmitt, the FEKM is the largest Krav Maga federation in the world. To date, the FEKM is the most structured federation with the largest number of licensees.
